I don’t know too much about Izumi Ashikawa, but when I was looking through the pamphlette for this festival at the Jimbocho, I saw that many of the films co-star Yujiro Ishihara, a few co-started favorites of mine Ruriko Asaoka and Jukichi Ono. That is why I want to go. Perhaps I will learn more about Ashikawa, as well.
Glass Johnny: Looks Like a Beast (1962)
硝子のジョニー 野獣のように見えて (がらすのじょにー やじゅうのようにみえて)
This has no one I recognized straight away, though I have seen a few Joe Shishido films and director Koreyoshi Kurahara directed several of the films in the Laputa Ruriko Asaoka series I wrote about yesterday. However, sealing the deal for me is 1) Wakkanai, Hokkaido settings and 2) bookies and motor bike bookies. I will be sure to check it out.
